Rema’s Calm Down Remix hits 1 billion YouTube Views
Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has etched his name in history with his hit song ‘Calm Down Remix’ featuring American pop sensation Selena Gomez.
The remix has become the first Afrobeats track to cross a billion views on YouTube.
As of Saturday, November 9, 2024 checks revealed that the video, uploaded on Gomez’s YouTube channel just two years ago, has reached this groundbreaking milestone.

This makes it not only the first Nigerian song to do so but also the fastest African track to hit 1 billion views on the platform.
The original version of ‘Calm Down’ has also captivated global audiences, amassing over 619 million views.
Meanwhile, the remix version, released in August last year, went on to set records as the first African song to hit the billion mark on Spotify, where it now boasts over 1.5 billion streams.
On Friday, November 8, 2024, Rema and R&B star Tems both secured nominations for Best Global Album for the 2025 Grammys after releasing successful albums.
