Shallipopi, Muyeez’s claims of exploitation false — Dapper Music
Dapper Music & Entertainment has denied the accusations of exploitation, financial mismanagement, and neglect leveled against it by former signees Shallipopi and Muyeez.
In a statement released today, December 12, 2024, the label denied the allegations, describing them as “premeditated, false, and calculated attacks.”
The record label explained that all contracts are designed with transparency and fairness, emphasizing that artists are given the opportunity for legal representation before signing.
The company also clarified that its 30% management commission is a standard industry practice and reflects the significant investment required to develop an artist’s career in a challenging market.
“We prioritize transparency and fairness in all our operations. Every contract we offer is presented with clarity, ensuring that both parties fully understand and agree to the terms. Our artists are always provided with the opportunity for legal representation.
“We do not have any agreements with Mr. Crown Uzama that tie the artiste’s future earnings to our business indefinitely. Our contracts solely relate to recordings and opportunities worked on and provided by our team within the contract term, which is common practice in the recording industry,” the company stated.
Addressing specific claims made by Muyeez, Dapper Music stated that the allegations of signing him as a minor were untrue.
According to the label, the contract was signed by Muyeez’s father and legal guardian, Moshood Basheer, in the presence of witnesses.
“It is completely false that Moshood Abdulmuiz p/k/a Muyeez signed a contract with us as a minor. On the contrary, his Guardian and Father, namely Moshood Basheer, specifically signed the said contracts on his behalf with witnesses at the signing ceremony,” the statement further detailed.
On the issue of royalties and transparency, Dapper Music insisted that it had provided full accounting to its artists and is cooperating fully with an ongoing audit initiated by Muyeez’s team.
The label added that it remains committed to maintaining transparency in all financial dealings.
Dapper Music described these accusations as unsubstantiated and accused unnamed proxies of sponsoring the attacks in an attempt to undermine its success.
The label stated that it would pursue appropriate legal actions against those it believes are attempting to tarnish its reputation and urged all disputes to be resolved in court rather than in the court of public opinion.
