VeryDarkMan ‘disrespected every single thing my father stood for’ — Falz
Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has spoken out about the defamation case involving social media personality, VeryDarkMan (VDM).
During an interview on the Afrobeats Podcast on October 23, 2024, Falz recounted how the issue escalated after VDM shared a viral video making unsubstantiated claims.
Describing his conversation with VDM, Falz said, “This guy was defensive right from the start. I told him, ‘bro, calm down and listen,’ but he was already on the attack. He even said to me, ‘shebi you’re a lawyer; go to court.’”

Falz explained that while the defamatory act had a criminal aspect, he decided not to pursue it legally.
“He could have easily been arrested for what he did. What he posted was complete nonsense, absolutely untrue. I asked him to take it down and apologise, but he did nothing,” Falz said.
The rapper noted that the conflict took a personal turn when VDM involved his father, human rights activist Femi Falana, in the controversy.
“I no dey find trouble Baba, I dey my dey. You set your ring light and begin dey talk all this nonsense about me, and you expect me to sit down? Every single thing my father stood for, sticking out his neck for the oppressed. So this level of disrespect ? See our people say that any child who says that any child who says his mother would not sleep, he himself would not sleep,” Falz remarked.
Falz ended with a warning, making it clear that he was ready to confront the situation head-on. “If you say you’re looking for trouble, trouble is my job. Let’s go if that’s what you want,” he stressed.
