Tiwa Savage Addresses Rumours Surrounding Relationship With Wizkid
For some time now, the media and social media has been abuzz with news surrounding the budding relationship between Mavin queen Tiwa Savage and Afrobeat artist Wizkid.
The two stars were spotted a few months ago in several pictures together and that sparked some rumours about a chemistry between the two. The rumours spread after they released a joint single titled Malo.
They went on to perform a few shows together and this further fanned the flame of speculation that perhaps there was something intimate between them.
But over the weekend, in an interview with Soundcity Radio 98.5, Savage clarified that her relationship with Wizkid was not in any way romantic.
The singer insisting that she had grown a thick skin, said:
“I heard all sorts of stories about Wizkid and [me], but I chose to ignore them. At a point, people said I was dating Humblesmith, later they mentioned another (artiste?). How long will I continue to debunk these rumours? I have been in the music industry for quite a while and I have grown a thick skin, so certain rumours or insinuations don’t get to me again.”
The mother of one also refrained from speaking on her broken marriage with Teebillz, saying that it was a very sensitive issue to delve into at this time because it may be taken out of context by another person. SHe mentioned her respect for her former husband and their son, Jamil.
The singer also said:
“I wish people could stop comparing me to Beyonce. I respect her because she’s about the best female artiste in the world, but I don’t think I want to be like her. I would rather like to be myself. There is no basis for me to be like her or anyone. I don’t know why people think I am obsessed with her. I want to be on my lane and be known as Tiwa Savage, not Beyonce.”
