No fewer than 100 Primary Schools in Delta State have registered for this year’s Zenith Bank/Delta Headmasters’ Football competition, the Commissioner for Primary education, Dr. Kinsley Ashibogwu, has said.
Ashibogwu stated at a media briefing in Asaba that “this year tournament will provide a platform for our young athletes to showcase their skills, and foster a sense of unity and pride among stakeholders.”
The commissioner also promised that this edition would be the most exciting as about 100 schools already registered with the process still ongoing.
“Over the past five years, the competition at the junior basic level has grown in leaps and bounds, thanks to the unwavering support of our sponsors, Zenith Bank Plc.
“We have witnessed thrilling performances with incredible talents among our children in Primary Schools in the previous editions.
“As we commence the third edition of the headmasters’ football competition sponsored by the Zenith Bank, we are committed to raising the bar even higher”, he assured.
According to Ashibogwu, the competition would run culminating in the final match to hold on October 24, 2024 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, the state capital.
The Branch Manager, Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Ifeanyi Atama, said the bank is proud and excited to support this event, which is pivotal in nurturing young football talents across the state.
