A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, Barr. Kenneth Imasuangbon, has backed the aspiration of former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for the party’s ticket in next year’s general election, urging PDP governors to support his ambition, as Atiku remains the best option to defeat the ruling APC.

Some PDP chieftains had recently called on Atiku to support younger aspirants from the Southern part of Nigeria. But Imasuangbon, popularly known as ‘Rice Man’ said Atiku remained the best choice candidate to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress, if the party is desirous of winning.

In a statement, in Benin City, he urged PDP members to market their aspirants instead of de-marketing Atiku.

The former Edo PDP governorship aspirant said Atiku has the prerequisite experience, contacts across the country and has impacted many lives through his philanthropic works.

He asked PDP governors and other party chieftains to call their supporters to order by refraining from casting aspersion on Atiku.

Imasuangbon argued that those using age and zoning against the former Vice President are doing that for selfish and parochial reasons.
