The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formed a political alliance to support the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The alliance under the aegis of Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, OPARHA was unveiled on Wednesday at its inaugural meeting in the state.

The party also confirmed that formation of the political alliance involved the PDP, Accord, Action Democratic Party (ADP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Alliance (AA) and other political groups to support Tinubu’s ambition.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 2026 Ekiti election, Dr Wole Oluyede who spoke yesterday at the event in Ado Ekiti, also expressed confidence that PDP will take over the mantle of leadership in the state at the end of governor Biodun Oyebanji’s tenure in 2030.

He called on his supporters and political associates to put aside the outcome of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election and unite behind Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

Oluyede said the alliance was being formed in the interest of the country and not for financial gains, stressing that its members were committed to supporting what they considered the progress and development of Nigeria.

According to him, his decision to support Tinubu followed a recent communication from the Presidency, during which the President appealed to him to put the bitterness of the Ekiti governorship election behind him and work with his administration.

He explained that Tinubu had urged him not to remain angry over the election, adding that the President assured him that the political differences surrounding the contest should not prevent them from working together.

Oluyede said Tinubu did not ask him to leave the PDP but rather appealed to him to work with the administration while also pledging to support him after securing his own re-election.

He also declared that the political differences between him and the State Governor Oyebanji had ended, saying he was prepared to work with the governor in the interest of Tinubu’s re-election.

His words, “After the election, I went to Abuja with anger because I was humiliated during Ekiti election. President Bola Tinubu sent a message to me that he would call me. Nine days ago, I received a call from the Presidency.

“I have been following Tinubu before he became the President. We were only four people who founded SWAGA. The people claiming leadership of the group were not there.

“President Bola Tinubu didn’t ask me to depart PDP. He told me, ‘Let’s work together for my re-election bid .’

“Tinubu knows our worth. That’s why he’s appealing to us to support him for his re-election bid. I’m appealing to all of us, let’s forget about what happened during the Ekiti election. Let’s focus on Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“The war is over. I and Governor Biodun Oyebanji will work together for President Bola Tinubu’s election. I am no more fighting with Oyebanji. God has given him his victory.

“If you see me in his house, I’m not there for myself but for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. But the next election in Ekiti, PDP is coming back in 2030.

“We are forming alliances with ADP, YPP, Accord, Action Alliance, and others for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. They are not working for the monetary aspects but for the progress of the country”, Oluyede said.
