2027: Jigawa PDP guber candidate woos Nigerian youths

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Jigawa State, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, Santurakin Dutse

Says young population is Nigeria’s greatest asset

Urges youths to turn potential into national transformation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Jigawa State, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, Santurakin Dutse, has called on Nigerian youths to harness their talents, energy and creativity to drive the country’s present and future development.

Lamido made the call while speaking as a special guest at the International Youth Day event organised by the Office of the PDP National Youth Leader at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.

The event brought together party leaders and young Nigerians to mark the occasion and highlight the critical role of youths in the political, economic and social development of the country.

Lamido, who expressed delight at attending the gathering, described Nigeria’s youthful population as one of the country’s greatest human-capital assets.

He said the sheer size and potential of Nigeria’s youth population could become a powerful engine of national transformation if properly developed, empowered and given the opportunity to participate meaningfully in governance and the economy.

“Our teeming youths represent a huge human capital asset for Nigeria which can be harnessed for our present and future development,” he said.

The Jigawa PDP candidate urged young Nigerians not to underestimate their capacity to shape the country’s future, stressing that the responsibility for national progress rests not only with government but also with citizens, particularly the younger generation.

He encouraged youths to make deliberate individual and collective efforts to develop their potentials, acquire relevant skills and deploy their talents towards solving problems and improving the lives of others.

Lamido also commended the PDP National Youth Leader and the leadership of the party for organising the event, describing it as an important platform for recognising the contribution of young people to the nation and the political process.

He said sustained engagement with youths was essential to building a stronger democratic culture and ensuring that young Nigerians were not merely spectators but active participants in shaping the future of the country.

The former Jigawa governor’s son has increasingly positioned youth empowerment and human-capital development as central issues in his political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said Nigerian youths should be encouraged to pursue their aspirations and use their abilities for the collective good rather than allow their circumstances to limit their ambitions.

Lamido’s message comes at a time when youth unemployment, skills development, political participation and economic opportunity remain major issues in Nigeria’s national conversation.

He expressed optimism that with the right opportunities, support systems and commitment, the country’s young population could become a decisive force for economic growth, innovation and national renewal.

The event also provided an opportunity for PDP leaders to interact with young party members and stakeholders as the party continues preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Lamido urged the youths to remain committed to building a better Nigeria, saying their individual successes, when combined with collective responsibility, could translate into lasting national progress.
