36-year-old single mother seeks N15m for kidney transplant

A 36-year-old single mother from Okitipupa Local Council of Ondo State, Mosunmola Ayebiwo, has appealed to Nigerians, government, and corporate organisations for assistance in raising N15 million to undergo a crucial kidney transplant.
 
In a Save Our Soul (SOS) appeal sent to newsmen in Akure, Ayebiwo said she has been battling with the sickness since April, and on weekly dialysis that costs N123,500.
 
A medical report from University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex, Ondo State, with Hospital Number: T02417, dated July 29, and signed by Dr O.A. Adejumo, confirmed the severity of the illness.
 
“The above named 36-year-old female is a known patient to our hospital. She is currently being managed for stage five chronic kidney disease secondary to glomerulonephritis. She is presently on maintenance haemodialysis; however, she has constraints to fund her health care as required.
 
“She will need a kidney transplantation that will cost about fifteen million naira as the definitive treatment of her condition,” the report stated.
 
According to the report, the patient is being treated for haemodialysis (N90,000), erythropoeitin (N21,000), oral medications (N7,500) and laboratory investigations (N5,000) weekly and they cost N494,000 monthly.

Mosunmola, who is a graduate of English Language and a mother of one, lamented that she had expended all her lifesavings on treatment, appealing to well-meaning Nigerians and organisations for financial assistance.
