The Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has said he was not under pressure, if his opponent in the Governorship election wins, as a job is waiting for him in the Federal Capital Territory (FTC), Abuja.

El-Rufai said this after voting at Unguwar Sarki Polling Unit, while expressing happiness that President Buhari was re-elected.

He said: “The most important thing is that President Muhammadu Buhari won. So, even if I lose, I already have a job. It’s my staff I’m worried about. I always crack this joke with them.”

The turnout of voters was not as impressive as it was during the presidential election.

The Senator-elect representing Kaduna Central, Mallam Uba Sani, however, had a different opinion, as he said the turnout was impressive and that people came out early to vote.

He also said he was optimistic el-Rufai would win the governorship election because of his contribution to the state in terms of development, adding, “from the feelers we are getting, if 10 people voted, eight of them would be for us.”

In Southern Kaduna, the turnout was fair, as many voters came out to perform their civic duty.

Meanwhile, about 30 vehicles loaded with political thugs, heading towards Kagarko and Kachia were arrested by security operatives.
