A gold miner, Alhaji Musibau Adepoju, abducted with his driver along Ilesa-Osogbo road by some yet-to-be identified gunmen penultimate Friday, have been released.

Adepoju, a gold miner who operates within gold mining communities around Ilesa, is based in Osogbo alongside his family members and was said to be on his way home before he was waylaid and kidnapped,

The driver was conveying Adepoju in an excavator caterpillar to Osogbo from Ilesa before the incident happened.

The incident was also reported at the state police command.

But The Guardian learnt yesterday that the victims had been released safely after the family paid a N20 million ransom.

“Alhaji and his driver have been released, but we paid N20 million to the Fulani people that kidnapped them. We have to beg them before they collected the ransom from us. Nowhere is safe again in this country,” the source revealed.

Recall that the kidnappers had contacted the family of Adepoju and demanded the sum of N100 million to release them.
