Abiodun, Oyebanji, Akeredolu, Oyetola, Fayemi congratulate Tinubu as president-elect

All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in the South West have congratulated the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and the party on their electoral victory in last week’s presidential poll.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun said result of the election clearly showed that Nigerians still love the party. The Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, yesterday, declared Tinubu winner of the February 25 presidential election.

Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, noted that all the major political parties ran a very fierce campaign in the build up to the elections, but the people finally spoke by electing Tinubu.

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti, described Tinubu’s emergence as sweet victory, coming after a rigorous electoral process.

Oyebanji described the president-elect as a man of immense experience, capacity and competence, who will lead and serve the country with courage and sagacity. His words: “I have absolute confidence in Tinubu’s capacity to turn around the fortunes of the country and lead it to a new level of economic prosperity and international relevance.”

Following the declaration of Tinubu as the president-elect, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo described the victory as a win for Nigerians. While congratulating Tinubu for emerging victorious at the polls, Akeredolu disclosed that people were eager to experience the promises made to Nigerians during the campaigns.

According to the governor, the election has renewed the hope of Nigerians, noting that the pervasive anger in the land dictated the voting pattern. He said: “I must hasten to join the good people of this country to congratulate the winner of the keenly contested 2023 presidential election on the well-deserved victory.”

Former governor of Ekiti State and immediate past Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has commended the political resilience, brilliance and shrewdness of Tinubu, stating that over the years, he had mentored a number of Nigeria’s political leaders and worked hard to develop and sustain progressive ideology in Nigeria.

The Head of the Fayemi Media Office in Abuja, Ahmad Sajoh, stated: “Tinubu was the leader of opposition politics when it was not fashionable to be in the opposition in Nigeria, but through hard work, foresight and compromise, he, working with other leaders, formed the APC, which has now won three consecutive presidential elections.”

Congratulating Tinubu, former governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, describing his emergence as victory for democracy and pointer to democratic sustenance in the country.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Ismail Omipidan, the former governor expressed confidence in the ability, competence and administrative acumen of the president-elect to take the country to unprecedented heights.

MEANWHILE, APC members in Osun, yesterday, celebrated Tinubu’s victory. In Iragbiji, the hometown of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, APC supporters jubilated and chanted victory songs.

While residents of Iragbiji, Boripe Local Council, danced and praised God at the palace of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Abdulrosheed Olabomi, a crowd of other APC loyalists celebrated on the major streets of Osogbo, the state capital. Some of them converged on the front of the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo land, Jimoh Olanipekun, to celebrate the victory.
