Adamawa state governor,  Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has relaxed the curfew imposed on Mubi local government council of the state following a review of the security situation in the commercial city.

The revised curfew, which takes effect immediately, restricts vehicular movement, including tricycles and electric bicycles, between 9:00 p.m and 6:00a.m daily.

Pedestrians, however, will be allowed to move until 10:00 p.m, pending further directives from the state government.

The adjustment is aimed at restoring normalcy while allowing economic activities to thrive in Mubi, one of Adamawa State’s major commercial centres.

Governor Fintiri commended residents for their cooperation and compliance with the initial curfew, saying their support contributed significantly to the restoration of peace in the area.

According to him, Mubi’s strategic importance to trade, agriculture and cross-border commerce makes the sustenance of peace crucial to the economic wellbeing of residents and businesses.

“Government is committed to protecting lives and property while also ensuring that economic activities are not unduly disrupted,” Fintiri said.

He urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies and remain vigilant to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

The governor also warned miscreants and criminal elements against engaging in activities capable of undermining the peace restored in the area.

“Anyone found engaging in criminal activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law. Government will not fold its arms and allow a few individuals to jeopardize the peace we have worked hard to restore,” he warned.

Fintiri further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women’s groups to consolidate the security gains recorded in Mubi.

He said the government would continue to take measures aimed at ensuring that Mubi remains safe and conducive for commerce and other legitimate economic activities.
