Adeboye denies advising Muslims on life after Ramadan

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, RCCG General Overseer

adeboye-rccggThe General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, yesterday denied a statement credited to him on an advice given to the Muslim community last week ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

He made this known at a special service held at church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos. The respected cleric requested for proof with video or audio evidence of him actually giving the said advice.

On July 3, social media had gone agog with the story crediting the pastor as saying: “The spirit that fell on our brothers in Islam during Ramadan should be carried throughout the days of the year. If we do that, we will all live in peace and harmony throughout the year.”

In an official statement yesterday signed by Tola Omosehin, the church stated that it believes in world peace and is totally committed to the cause in Nigeria and across the world.

“To this effect, the body of Christ and the General Overseer has not and will not make any negative statement about other individuals or their religion. We are following the principle of the Holy Bible in Hebrews 12:14, which states that ‘Follow peace with all men.’”
