Adefuye, Ogbeiwi for St. Cecilia concert November 10

Lagos East Senatorial District Deputy Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Anthony Adefuye, and Dean of Hymnodia, Ben Ogbeiwi, are among political and entertainment personalities expected to light up a musical concert in honour of St. Cecilia, tomorrow. Adefuye, who is the Baba Ijo of St. Denis, will chair the occasion at Our Lady of Fatima School Hall, Akoka, Lagos.

Other music personalities expected at the event that will kick off by 1.30pm include the Director of Trinity Chorale, Nnamdi Amadi; General Choirmaster and Music Director (GCMD) of Chorale de la Magnifique (CDM), Ike Eseka; and Head of Opera Section, MUSON, Jo Oparamanuike.

The concert, to be hosted by St. Cecilia Choir of St. Denis Catholic Church, Akoka, promises to be an event to remember, according to the choirmaster, Mrs. Bridget Akosile.

The Guardian gathered that the concert would feature medleys, indigenous airs, Negroes spirituals and other forms of choral music.

With on-air personality (OAP), Peter Agbeshimi (a.k.a. Mc2Much) of Rave FM as compere, the show will have side attractions such as drumming sessions from professional groups.St. Cecilia, the patroness of musicians, was born in Rome around 2nd century AD and reportedly died in Sicily under Emperor Marcus Aurelius between 176 and 180. Her feast day, which falls in the month of November, has become the occasion for concerts and musical festivals.
