The Action Democratic Party (ADP) gubernatorial candidate in Kano, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, has felicitated with former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau on his 67 years birthday.

Sharada in a message by his spokesperson, Abbas Yushau Yusuf, said Shekarau’s contribution to the development of Kano remained an indelible mark in the minds of the people, especially in the area of education.

“With my blueprint in promoting the education sector and in line with the ideals of our party, the ADP, which is to promote quality and free education for all. This was the legacy of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and why he stands out among peers,” he said.

Sharada said Shekarau’s will and commitment raised many individuals in Kano and neighbouring states during his days as a classroom teacher, senior master, principal, director general, and permanent secretary.

He said those individuals he raised through his teachings and discipline have excelled in every aspect of life they ventured in.

The governorship candidate said Shekarau’s politics of morality and respect for people has earned him a reputation in Kano, the rest of the country, and the international community, adding that little wonder he earned so much respect in every facet of human endeavor.

He extolled the former governor’s style of ensuring good governance at the grassroots, including local government autonomy in which rural development was given utmost priority. He said he intends to build on these achievements the moment he emerges victorious.

Sharada pointed out that since the beginning of the fourth Republic, Shekarau was the only governor of Kano state that releases local government funds where poverty was reduced to the barest minimum.

He added that he will be the second governor, by the will of Allah, to grant such autonomies and release local government funds for the execution of meaningful projects for people at the grassroots.

Sharada promised to restore the lost respect of the state if elected as governor of Kano State in the March 2023 general election and looks forward to receiving Shekarau’s wise counsel.

The ADP gubernatorial candidate also expressed displeasure on how the state lost respect in the eyes of many individuals at the twilight of the present administration.

He utilised the opportunity on behalf of his family, people of the Municipal Federal Constituency, supporters of the ADP, and all members of his campaign team for Shekarau’s good health, long life, and prosperity.
