Again, gunmen abduct club owner in Yenagoa
Barely one week after the abduction of 90-year old mother of Bayelsa State Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Madam Betinah Benson, unknown gunmen again invaded Yenagoa and abducted a popular nightclub owner, identified as Tari Ajanani.
Ajanami, an indigene of Ayamasa Town in Ekeremor Council of the state, was abducted at about 6:00p.m. on Wednesday at his building project site along Otiotio Road in Yenagoa.
The 43 years old Ajanami, who runs a popular nightclub along the Bay ridge area of Yenagoa, also works in a commercial bank.
The Guardian learnt that the victim was at his building site to pay his workers when the gunmen invaded the location and whisk him away to an unknown destination.
While some residents claimed that the abduction might be connected with his lavish birthday celebration recently, others argued that he might have been kidnapped for ransom.
Meanwhile, Benson’s kidnappers are yet to release her after over one week in captivity.
Although the family had not commented on the purported negotiations with the kidnappers, the state government said efforts were being made to apprehend the abductors and rescue the victim.
Confirming the development, spokesman of the state Police Command, Asinim Butswat, said on July 28, 2021 about 9:00p.m., three armed men kidnapped one Oyintari Ajanani at Otiotio in Yenagoa.
“All operatives have been alerted across the state and they are on the trail of the suspects,” he said.
