Irked by the unresolved crisis in the Niger Delta, the President General of the Supreme Niger Delta Youth Council Worldwide (SNDYCW), Prince Michael Newgent Ekamon has described the action of the Niger Delta Avengers and Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) as akin to armed robbery activities, as he canvassed for the leaders arrest and prosecution.

SNDYCW made their position known when the group members, accompanied by former Senate President Mr. Joseph Wayas met with the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna yesterday.

Prince Ekamon explained that the members of the Niger Delta group were in Kaduna to meet with leaders and elders of the Northern region who have served the country well and want to see that the country remains as one indivisible entity. He argued that the problem in the region was not the problem of the Federal Government, rather it stemmed from the Niger Delta leaders who have been sabotaging the region because of their greed.

He remarked that it was based on this that they are organizing a summit in Edo State between 27th and 29th of October to discuss the problems in the region. Responding, the chairman of the ACF, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomasie observed that both the North and Niger Delta had sustained a long period of friendship. He noted that the forum believes in the doctrine of one Nigeria where justice and equity prevails.
