A’Ibom CP distances self from circulating video, says it’s fake

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police (CP), Amiengheme Andrew, yesterday, distanced himself from a re-circulated video captioned: Akwa Ibom Elders Are Out For President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as fake.

He assured people of the state the command under his watch would continue to serve professionally and with the fear of God.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Odiko MacDon in Uyo yesterday, the command described the re-circulating video as the handiwork of detractors.

“The attention of the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police has been drawn to a re-circulated online press briefing by Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, with the above title now trending, which necessitated this rejoinder.

“The video is the handiwork of a misguided mischief maker, who video shopped and added the video to make it look like a recent event to achieve an ulterior motive. The force is currently addressing the issue.

“The Command is inundated of the said video as relating to the Commissioner of Police, hence the need to clarify the issues.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Udom held the media briefing in 2019, during the House of Assembly crisis before the 2019 general elections. It has nothing to do with the CP, who was only recently deployed to the state,” the statement reads.
