EndSARS: Akwa Ibom police parades 10 suspected looters, recovers items

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has paraded 10 suspected thieves, who infiltrated the EndSARS protesters on Thursday to break into some government and private establishments in Uyo, looting items valued hundreds of millions of naira.

The places vandalised included De Choice Shopping Mall, LG Showroom, Access Bank and Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation Office.

Items the Police recovered from the hoodlums included 14 deep freezers, six refrigerators, eight flat screen televisions, four water dispensers, 16 bags of rice, four air conditioners, a printer and chairs, among others.

The recovery, according to the Commissioner of Police, CP Amiengheme Andrew, while parading the suspects with the recovered items during a briefing at the Command Headquarters Ikot-Akpanabia, yesterday, was effected less than 24 hours after the looting.

Amiengheme explained that he has visited all the affected places with his team, promising to ensure that more looted items are recovered.

He urged the public to avail Police with useful information that could aid in retrieving more items. He, however, commended the state government and sister agencies for their collaborative efforts in restoring normalcy to Uyo and the entire state.
