Ajimobi names Alaafin, Soun’s children as commissioners

One year into his second term in office, Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has forwarded a list of 15 commissioners and eight people as members of the state independent electoral commission to the state House of Assembly.

Those on the list of commissioners include the daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo, Mrs. Taibat Adaba and one of the sons of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oyewole Oyewunmi.

Former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Abimbola Adekanmbi and a former governorship candidate, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan, were on the list of commissioners-designate.

The list, which was read on the floor of the state House of Assembly on Wednesday by the Speaker of the House, Michael Adeyemo, during plenary session, also include three former commissioners in the state, Mrs. Atinuke Osunkoya, former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Abimbola Kolade, former Commissioner for Works and Chief Wasiu Dauda, who had earlier headed the Environment, and Establishment ministries.

Others are Messrs, Isaac Adisa Ishola, Mudasiru Abdulganiyu, Oluseun Abimbola and Fatai A. Salawu.Two former special advisers to the governor and local council chairmen were also announced on the floor of the House yesterday.

They are Chief Abayomi Oke, former SA on environment to the governor and Chief Toye Arulogun, the governor’s former Special Adviser on Public Affairs.

Others are Ajiboye Omodewu and Prof. Niyi Olowofela (Ido Local Council) who were both former council chairmen in the state.The State Independent Electoral Commission has Chief Adewole Ajeigbe as chairman while the members are Sunday Aborishade, Adedeji Rimi, David Adeagbo, Bello Lateef, Omolola Odekunbi, Abdulrazak Akuru and Chief Rasheed Oyekanmi.
