Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has expressed readiness to promote all professions in the state, saying everyone must be given a fair chance.

The governor spoke yesterday in Akure during a “thank-you’ visit to him by pharmacists in the country led by National President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Sam Ohuabunwa.

Ohuabunwa was also accompanied by the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) also led by its National Chairman, Samuel Oluwaoromipin Adekola.

Akeredolu said that both medical doctors and pharmacists were in the same profession, stressing that no discrepancy should exist between the two.

Speaking on the appointment of Mrs. F. B. Aladenola as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, the governor said he had no hesitation because of his belief that she could do the job.

He enjoined the pharmacists and everyone to support her while lauding her efforts, particularly at the public hearing on the bill for Ondo State Drugs and Health Commodities Management Agency.

Earlier, Ohuabunwa, who presented an appreciation letter to the governor in expression of members’ gratitude over the appointment of one of their own as Permanent Secretary, thanked the governor for giving equal opportunity to all healthcare professionals to advance in their careers in the state public service.

He said: “I am glad to lead this delegation to say thank you. We see it as a favour but you may not see it so. I am sure you did what is right. I am glad that you are setting good examples.”

Also, Adekola described the new permanent secretary as a pride to pharmacists across the country, lauding the governor for blazing a trail and setting good examples.
