The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the February 23 senatorial election, Senator George Akume, have filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal against the judgement of the election petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Benue State.

The tribunal threw out Akume’s petition challenging the victory of Senator Emmanuel Orker-Jev, representing Benue North-West.

Akume and his party had asked the tribunal to upturn Orker-Jev’s victory and declare them the winner of the election.

But the tribunal dismissed the petition on the ground that it lacked substance and merit.
