Akwa Ibom State government has lamented the absence of Federal Government infrastructure in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh, disclosed this position yesterday in Uyo, the state capital.

According to him, the state lacks Federal Government investments, despite it’s over 40 per cent contributions, through crude oil, to the country’s economy.

Udoh said, notwithstanding the situation, the government has continued to position the state to attract investors.

He explained that the Udom Emmanuel-led administration is committed to industrialisation, which is the focus of its five-point agenda.

He added that government has upgraded key facilities in the state, especially the road networks and the international airport.

The commissioner said the decision to upgrade the airport runway to category two, was to ensure safe landing for airplanes even in difficult weather.

On effort to relocate the headquarters of international oil companies to the state, he said the ongoing 21-storey building being built by the state is to create facilities for modern offices.
