Another earth tremor hits Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has witnessed a fresh earth tremor with a magnitude of 3.0 few months after a similar occurrence in the city.
A statement by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), Vincent ErimOwan, and Dr. Abdulrazak Garba, said the incident occurred yesterday around 12:26 hours at Panama Street in Maitama District of Abuja.
The statement said NGSA received a call at about 12:45 hours and immediately deployed a technical team and activated internal response protocols comprising relevant government agencies, including the FCT Emergency Management Agency and NEMA.
After a field evaluation, the agency determined the intensity to be about 3.0 on the Marcali Intensity scale, meaning it was felt indoors and lasted less than a minute.
