Rotary Club of Festac Town has renovated the building housing the Anti-Robbery Team and Human Rights Unit of the Divisional Police Headquarters, Festac Town.

The renovation was after it dug a well for the police station and bought a generating set. The President of the club, Anselem Alokha, Esq. recalled that upon assuming office on July 1, 2021, one of the projects that came to his mind was the enhancement of the working environment of those who secure lives and property in the community.

“You will agree with me that the level of security in Festac Town is commendable, compared to other parts of the state. Thus, following the club’s approval, we commenced this project. It is our little way of thanking the division for the good job it is doing.”

He said the renovation covered floor tiling, ceiling (interior and exterior), replacement of wooden windows and doors with stainless frames and glass, fixing of toilets and erection of soak-away chamber, painting and office tag.

He said: “We thank the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Gboyega Balogun, for his encouragement and collaboration. Great things are happening in your tenure.

“We also thank individuals and corporate donors to our projects. We realise that without them, there will be limited resources to execute projects of this nature.”

DPO Balogun said he was satisfied and appreciative of what Rotary Club of Festac Town did.

“I never expected this, but when they came the first time that they want to do a project, I was not moved,” he said. “Now, I am so amazed they have changed the shape of this place. It was in a bad shape, but now, the environment is in great shape. Things like this will always make us work better and effectively.”
