The crises rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened yesterday as Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim displaced the substantive National Organising Secretary of the party, Mr. Emmanuel Ibediro.

Ibrahim, who briefed reporters at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, claimed that Ibediro continuous stay in office was illegal in view of an Abuja court order delivered by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba on September 14, 2018.

Ibediro is believed to be in support of embattled National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

Ibrahim, who brandished a copy of the court judgment to justify his claim, said he would exercise the role of the national organising secretary of the party since he was duly elected Deputy National Organising Secretary in the 2018 national convention of the party.

He faulted media reports that the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party scheduled to hold on Tuesday has been cancelled, insisting: “I am assuring Nigerians that the organisation of the NEC meeting has reached advanced stage. We will proceed with the NEC as planned. I advise those planning to scuttle it to desist from spreading such rumours.

“The plan by desperate forces working with various interests outside the system to distract the party is dead on arrival. We are calling on loyal party members to sustain the tempo and brace up to rebrand the party.”

Reacting to the development, Ibediro described Ibrahim as a rabble-rouser that should not be taken serious, adding: “He took me to court in Abuja recently and the court threw away his case, telling him that he has no locus, as he is not a party in the main suit and in the appeal and that he did not even contest the position. The court threw away his case two weeks ago.

“The man is just a rabble-rouser and he forgot that the case is still in the appeal. He cannot shop in troubled water.”
