A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Ondo State chapter of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), has condemned the participation of the Commissioner for Women Affairs in the state, Seun Osamaye, in Monday’s protest against the National Assembly candidates’ list released by the party’s leadership.
The group, which described Osamaye’s conduct as an affront to the party’s constitutional authority, maintained that the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) was consistent with the APC’s Constitution and long-standing commitment to justice, internal democracy and peaceful resolution of disputes.
ALSO, another support group, the Democratic Integrity Network, has condemned the protest staged by some women of the party in Ondo State over the National Assembly candidates’ list forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission by the party’s NWC.
The group, which hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the protest as an orchestrated plot against the party’s leadership and a dangerous distraction from the party’s unity.
According to a statement by the Coordinator of the group, Bankole Aminu, the protest was dismissed as a “premeditated charade” that undermines the party’s internal democracy.
The group further described the involvement of state officials in the demonstration as regrettable, noting that Osamaye and the APC Women Leader, Oluwayemisi Iji-Ayeola, were seen leading the protesters.
