As part of efforts to streamline, standardise and innovate the events industry in Nigeria, the Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) have said all is set for this year’s The Event Industry Conference, popularly known as TEIC.

Speaking at a pre-event announcement in Lagos, president of the association and CEO Dunamis Events, Olufunbi Akinyosoye said this year’s edition, which is in its sixth year, will positively surprise attendees as the line-up of activities is mind-blowing and will redefine as well as reshape the industry and its opeartions.

Holding on the 24th and 25th of October 2023, she said day one will feature four sessions including a breakout session for the different sectors in the events industry. “A series of conference and master classes from world experts, captains of industries and so on that would teach us new ways on improving, best business practices and new methods. There would also be an awards and recognition night.”

Going down memory lane, she said the association was conceived from the imagination of Molara Akinosho, Gbemi Ope and Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, to unite event professionals and propel the industry onto the global stage.

“Back in those days, the event industry was in need of a voice, a home, and a platform for like-minded individuals to converge, share insights, and foster growth. These three visionaries took a bold step, inviting their colleagues to lunch on May 18th, 2010, a pivotal moment where the seeds of APPOEMN were sown. Fast forward to today, our journey has led us to the hallmark of our industry, TEIC. The Event Industry Conference has become synonymous with innovation, networking, and unparalleled insights from industry luminaries. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a newcomer to the events space, TEIC promises an experience that will reshape the way you approach events.”

Akinyosoye said this year’s edition would be very enriching, as the lineup of speakers slated to speak represent the pinnacle of expertise and vision, setting the stage for discussions that will shape the future of event management.

“TEIC6.0 is where you’ll connect with peers, forge mentorships, and expand your professional network. We’re bringing you the latest trends and innovations in the event space, ensuring you leave TEIC6.0 armed with knowledge that will drive your success in this dynamic industry. Event professionals need to know what is new in the industry because anyone that doesn’t innovate will die. TEIC6.0 isn’t just about learning; it’s about celebrating our shared passion for events.”

She also revealed that the conference would be infused with social events and entertainment, creating an atmosphere that fosters connections and inspires creativity. Urging everyone to contribute to the growth and evolution of the industry, she said it’s important to learn, unlearn and relearn best practices that will take the industry forward and spur growth.

Adding that they’re big on impact this year, she said as a way to help new entrants, they will be giving them a 50 percent discount when registering but will still enjoy the full experience.

Events director, Chinwe Attoh, speaking on what attendees will enjoy said that though the focus is on the industry aspect, everyone would leave there better and more enriched than they came in.

Immediate past president, Adefunke Kuyoro, enjoined every event professional to register and attend in order to learn and connect with other experts for network purpose.

Education Director, Funmi Latunji-Oni, on her part, revealed that the planning team had carefully selected the resource persons for this year in order for participants to get the best out of the conference this year.
