As varied reactions trail the recent exit of former Governor of Osun, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and his group, Omoluabi Progressives, from the All Progressives Congress (APC), a chieftain of the party, Mr. Sunday Akere, on Monday, said the development will make the opposition party stronger and better positioned for future challenges.
Akere, who was the Commissioner for Information and Strategy during Aregbesola’s regime, noted that the presence of the splinter group before their decision to quit the party on Sunday was a big distraction hampering the progress of APC in Osun State.

Speaking to The Guardian in Osogbo, the state capital, he said, “The purported exit of the so-called Omoluabi Progressives from Osun APC is good riddance to bad rubbish.
“Their continued presence before was a big distraction that has been hampering the progress of APC in Osun State because of the confusion they created in the minds of some less-informed party members.”
“What their leaders failed to realize is that they have been getting imaginary support before because of those who believed they may still have a rethink from their path of destruction.
“Be rest assured that Osun APC will be stronger, better positioned, and more fortified now for the challenges ahead because we won’t have to grapple with their distractions again.
“Let us wait and see if they will join the PDP, which they worked for in the series of elections since 2022, or if they will float their own party. What they forget to accept is the fact that a third party around here amounts to nothing but an effort in futility.”
