Operation Lafiya Dole has killed some Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and destroyed their five gun trucks along Gajiram/Maiduguri road in Borno State.

The soldiers rescued women and children in a road ambush, while commuting from Monguno to Maiduguri metropolis.

Confirming the incident yesterday in Maiduguri, a Civilian JTF member, Bukar Audu, stated: “The terrorists laid ambush in the Gajiram/Monguno road on Wednesday by 1pm.”

According to him, the insurgents in seven gun trucks also attacked commuters in the Ari/Gambouru/Gasarwa axis along Monguno road.

“After getting credible intelligence, troops stormed the scene and engaged in fierce gun battle, killing some of the terrorists, while others escaped in two gun trucks with gunshot wounds,” he added.

The terrorists reportedly robbed motorists and commuters of their personal effects, including phones and money.

Besides destroying gun trucks, five terrorists with sophisticated weapons were also captured in the road ambush, Audu disclosed.
