Avoid exposure to security risks, Emmanuel cautions corps members in Akwa Ibom
Governor Udom Emmanuel has cautioned corps members serving in Akwa Ibom to avoid actions that could expose them to security risks during their Community Development Service (CDS).He gave the advice yesterday during the closing of the 2019 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 orientation course for the members deployed to the NYSC permanent camp in Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai council area of the state.
The governor said his administration had sustained efforts effort to secure NYSC members, warning the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) against rejecting them.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs. Mary Bassey, Governor Emmanuel reiterated the state’s commitment to the welfare of the scheme, stressing that he would also prioritise the major policies revolving around the corps members.
“The government has continued in her concerted efforts to secure the lives and property of everyone living in Akwa Ibom State. It is my hope that you will key into this vision and avoid every action capable of undermining the peace enjoyed here. Avoid actions that would expose you to security risks.
“Let me use this medium to reiterate my earlier directive that the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the state should and must not reject corps members posted to them under any guise,” he stated.The State NYSC Coordinator, Oluwale Amusan, commended the partnership between the state government and the scheme, adding that it had helped position the service on the right track.
He urged the corps members to put into proper use the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development training acquired during the three-week orientation exercise, appealing to the governor to include the scheme in the completion agenda of his administration.He said: “Permit me to use this medium to commend the efforts of the state government in partnering with us towards the realisation of the scheme’s mandate. I assure Governor Emmanuel that we will continue to support his administration in the task of taking Akwa Ibom State to a higher height.” “We wish to, however, appeal to him to consider us in the completion agenda of his government in this current dispensation.”
