The Vice Chancellor, Imo State University (IMSU), Prof. Victoria Obasi has urged university managements to be proactive in the fight against societal vices visible in institutions in the country.

Obasi made the call after receiving an Exemplary Christian Leadership Award from the youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Southern region in Owerri.

She pointed out that part of the reasons why undergraduates indulge in social vices and crimes such as cultism, armed robbery, and others, hinges on the inability of universities to balance academics with morality.

The don also stressed the need to encourage students to belong to religious groups and actively participate in their activities within the institution, stressing that such would make them responsible citizens and useful to the society.Leader of the group, Barr. Oluchukwu Nnabugwu said the body is committed to encouraging Christians who have distinguished themselves in nation building and human development.
