Bandits have invaded Tunga Rafin Community in Aguie Local Council and killed four persons, including a village head.

The Wednesday night incident left some other residents with injuries.

According to a local, over 70 bandits invaded the village at night killing the head, whose name was given as Abubakar Magaji, the Sabo Rafi, and one other person.

He pointed out that the bandits also killed two other persons on the way as they fled the community.

A member of the community vigilante, who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity, said they also abducted the wife and child of the village head after slaughtering him.

“They fled the community when they realised that our men were gathering to counter their attack,” he said.

It is the first time bandits were attacking the village, even as our neighbouring communities had suffered attacks from the bandits many times in the recent past, he added.

His words: “We didn’t know they would be attacking our community soon, though they had attacked some communities in this area many times.

“Our men came out in large numbers to repel the attack on the community, but they had killed our village head and three others and ran away.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the command was yet to confirm the incident.

Though he promised to get back to our correspondent, he didn’t before press time.
