Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has set a benchmark of N9 billion as the monthly Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) FOR to the state’s Board of Internal Revenue Service.

Bello spoke against the backdrop of very meagre revenue of N500, 000 being generated currently as a result of some under-hand dealings on the part of collectors and other civil servants, resulting in leakages and under-collections.

The governor, who spoke during a sensitisation forum on the ‘Implementation of Consumption Tax,’ organised by the Board, charged the body to harness all the sources of internal revenues that have not been tapped over the years.

He said his administration has given the Board autonomy to enable it have free hand to operate and meet the set targets, in line with government’s quest for improved revenue generation.
