The Borno State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday distanced itself from a campaign message for a Goodluck Jonathan and Ayo Fayose presidency in 2019.

The message was allegedly authored by a former chairman of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Grema Terab.

The APC Secretary, Alhaji Bello Ayuba, told reporters in Maiduguri that Terab had been parading himself as a member of the ruling party in the state.

“There is no record of him as a registered card-carrying member of the APC in any of the 312 wards across the 27 local councils of Borno State,” said Ayuba.

He said members were shocked to receive a message on their mobile phones saying: “Fellow northern youths, join the launching of our movement to bring-back Goodluck Jonathan in 2019, holding tomorrow, Thursday, in Abuja.

“All northerners have failed this country and no northerner (Muslim or Christian) has the capacity. Let us also concede the vice president to Governor Ayo Fayose. He is the most courageous, honest Nigerian leader today.

“Jonathan and Fayose 2019 ticket will transform our country. Fayose is a man of the masses and Jonathan is very humble and the most capable leader in Africa.”

Ayuba said while we respect the freedom of any Nigerian, including Terab, to associate with any political party and aspirant of his choice for elective office, we find it disturbing that some Nigerians are already assuming that Terab is a member of the Borno APC for the fact that he always identifies himself as a member of the APC.
