Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has described breast and cervical cancers as the two greatest diseases that claim lives of many women.

The governor’s wife said this, yesterday, while flagging off free breast and cervical cancer screening for women in the state, in commemoration of the 2021 cancer awareness month, organised by Ajose Foundation, in collaboration with the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Ogun State Chapter, at the State Hospital, Ijebu Ode. The event was organised to create awareness on breast and cervical cancer in the state.

According to her, awareness on breast cancer has improved, adding that more people were aware and taking advantage of free screening each time the opportunity comes.

She said that the exercise would continue throughout the month of October in the four divisions of the state.

Besides, she enjoined women to take advantage of the screening to know their status, adding that it would also encourage more women to come out for screening.
