Buhari applauds as Nigerian students conquer at global ICT contest
President Muhammadu Buhari has saluted the Nigerian team to the 2020 Huawei Global ICT Competition for showing the resilience that saw them coming first out of over 150,000 contestants that took part in the cloud and networking test.
He also thanked the organisers for its contributions to the development of ICT capabilities in the country.
The delegation, which was made up of undergraduates from the University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Port Harcourt, was honoured for their feat at an online awards ceremony hosted from the Huawei headquarters in China.
Buhari was represented at the event held at Huawei Nigeria (Abuja) office by his Special Assistant on Youth and Students Affairs, Mr. Nasir Sa’idu Adhama.
In his contribution, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, noted that ICT was contributing significantly to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
He commended the Chinese firm for extending such a great opportunity to the participants.
