Death not COVID-19 related, says RCCG

The third son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Dare Adeboye, is dead. Dare, who was described by his father, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, as a miracle child, is the Pastor in Charge of the RCCG, City of David for Young Adults and Youths, Akurudum, Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

The late pastor was part of the entourage that welcomed his father two Sundays ago to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, when he (father) came for a special ministration in the state.

One of the Assistant Pastors in the state who confirmed Dare’s death, told The Guardian that Pastor Dare died in Abuja where he went for an official ministration. A reliable source said Dare was hale and hearty until his death.

MEANWHILE, the RCCG has said that the death of Dare Adeboye was not COVID-19 related. The RCCG disclosed this, yesterday, in an official statement to confirm the younger Adeboye’s death.

A statement by the Public Relations Department of the ministry said that Dare, popularly called ‘Pastor D’, who would have been 43 years on June 9, was the third child and second son of the cleric. He died in his sleep with no prior health issues on May 4 in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

“It is with a deep and heartfelt sense of loss we announce the departure of our beloved son, brother, husband and father, Oluwadamilare Temitayo Adeboye, who went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2021.

“His life was well lived as he served the Lord without reserve, giving effortlessly and leading fearlessly. He was crowned by the Lord with blessings of three seeds and a beautiful wife. Though shaken, our anchor remains Jesus Christ in whom we have the assurance that we will one day meet in a place where there is no pain,” the statement stated.

BUT reacting earlier to the sad news, the younger brother of the late Dare, Leke Adeboye, had posted on his official Instagram page a scripture from the bible on the death of the righteous.

The scripture reads: “The righteous man perishes (at the hand of evil), and no one takes it to heart, faithful and devout men are taken away, while no one understands. That the righteous person is taken away (to be spared) from evil and disaster.”

THOSE, who extended sympathies to the family of the General Overseer of the RCCG, yesterday, included President Muhammadu Buhari, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, his River counterpart, Nyesom Wike and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, prayed God to grant the departed rest in His everlasting kingdom and comfort grieving family, friends and associates.
