President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, launched new National Identity Solution Products (NISPs) to ease enrollment of people into the National Identity Database (NIDB).

Performing the ceremony at the Third National Identity Day, themed, ‘Identity, a tool for sustainable digital economy and national security’, Buhari, who was represented by Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said enrollment now stands at 63 million and still counting.

As an indication that the nation’s information technology development sector was improving, the President said all the solutions were indigenously developed.

He commended the efforts of all stakeholders in the enrollment of people into the NIDB, saying a proper data system will help in guiding the policies on budget and national planning.

Also, telecommunications firm, Airtel Nigeria, has announced a strategic partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), to intensify campaign on the need for Nigerians to embrace digital identity enrollment in commemoration of the National Identity Day.

According to Airtel, the partnership is in line with its commitment to support government’s agenda of building a robust and reliable soft infrastructure and identity management system that will accelerate economic development, as well as boost safety and security of all citizens and residents across the country.
