President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday mourned the passage of the Deputy President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Umar Tudunwada.

The deceased, who was managing director of Kano State Radio Corporation, died in a road crash at Kura town in Kura local council of the state.

He was returning from Abuja where he had attended a meeting of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) when the incident occurred.

He was in the vehicle with one of his wives, a daughter and driver who all survived the fatal crash that took place some 30 kilometres away from the metropolis. The trio are currently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital while the departed journalist had been buried according to Islamic rites.

In a statement yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the president described the late Tudunwada as a gentleman and thoroughbred professional.
