Buhari names ex-IGP Abba police fund chair

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of retired Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, as chairman, board of trustees of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of retired Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, as chairman, board of trustees of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund.

A statement yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the approval was pursuant to the Nigeria Police Trust Fund Establishment Act 2019.

Consequently, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is to serve as the organisation’s Executive Secretary.

The membership also includes Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, representing the Ministry of Police Affairs, while the IGP Mohammed Adamu would represent the Nigeria Police Force.

Others are Usman Bilkisu (representative of the Ministry of Justice); Ben Akabueze (DG, Budget and National Planning, representing the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning); Mansur Ahmed (for organised labour), and the representative of the civil society, Dr. Michael Bamidele Adebiyi.
