Buhari, Oshiomhole receive Muazu, Yuguda, others in Bauchi
Ahead of February 19 general elections, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially received defectors from the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, yesterday.
Among the 18 defectors were two ex-governors of Bauchi State, Adamu Mu’azu and Isa Yuguda, former deputy governor Abdulmalik Mahmud and former PDP chieftain, Babayo Garba Gamawa and some other Senators in the northeastern states.
The National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole received and presented the party’s broom to the decampees, saying, “I am giving you these brooms to sweep Nigeria clean.” He lambasted PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, alleging that his party wasted the nation’s fortune when its resources were booming. “Atiku and PDP will sell NNPC the way they sold NITEL and Nigerian Airways,” he said.
President Buhari, who said his government has achieved a lot in the areas of security, economy and anti-corruption, welcomed the defectors while pleading with them to work for the party’s success at the polls.
