BUK Alumni pay medical bills for 50 patients
The 1992 alumni of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) have paid the medical bills of 50 indigent patients at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.
The gesture was intended to mark the association’s 25th anniversary.The organising chairman of the group, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, said the alumni also paid about N1 million, being registration fees for 25 indigent students drawn from different faculties of the university.
“We donated food items and essential drugs to the Kano Motherless Babies Home and the Torrey Home. We have spent N2.2 million in the maiden edition of the alumni’s social responsibility scheme. We hope that the gesture will become annual and sustained,” he said.
