Buni, five others to contest Yobe guber seat
Five aspirants have emerged to contest Yobe State governorship seat, next year, with the incumbent, Governor Mai Mala Buni of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The aspirants, including Umar Ali of APC, Sheriff Abdulahi, Ali Tikau and Abba Tata of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ya’u Sabo of Action Alliance (AA), are expected to woo their parties’ delegates to choose them as candidates.
Since the wake of the Fourth Republic in 1999, the All Peoples Party (APP), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and APC have governed the state.
Yobe APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, added that between 2019 and 2022, the state had been enjoying relative peace despite the over a decade Boko Haram attacks.
According to him, the restoration of sustainable peace will provide a level-playing ground for the people to exercise their voting rights.
“Consultative meetings of the governorship aspirants are ongoing for the elective offices in Damaturu, the state capital,” he said.
