The Central Association of Nigerians in the United Kingdom has described the commencement of the tenure of the new Nigeria’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Ambassador Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu as a significant step towards strengthening ties between Nigeria and United Kingdom.

The Chairman of the Association, Dr. Ily Maisanda said this while reacting to the formal presentation of Letters of Commission by the Ambassador to His Majesty King Charles III at St James’s Palace, on his official resumption as Nigeria’s full diplomatic representative  in the UK.

He explained that the bond will solidify the relationship between the two countries in the areas of diplomacy, trade, education, investment, culture and diaspora engagement.

Dr. Maisanda expressed excitement of the appointment, describing him as a very experienced and dedicated government representative that will advance bilateral trade.

He, therefore, extended the Association’s hand of friendship to the High Commission in a bid to support the community’s welfare and promotion of stronger people-to-people engagements.

“We, hereby, congratulate His Excellency Ambassador Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu on the formal commencement of his tenure as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

“On Wednesday, 6 May 2026, His Excellency presented his Letters of Commission to His Majesty King Charles III at St James’s Palace, officially resuming Nigeria’s full diplomatic representation in the UK.

“This milestone is a significant step towards strengthening the historic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom in diplomacy, trade, education, investment, culture, and diaspora engagement.

“Nigerians in the UK are particularly delighted to once again have a such a dedicated government representative working on their behalf and advancing bilateral relations.

“As the umbrella body for Nigerian community organisations across the UK, CANUK looks forward to close collaboration with the High Commissioner and the Nigeria High Commission to support the welfare of our community and promote stronger people-to-people bonds between both nations.” He said
