The Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has asked the Director-General of Department of Security Services (DSS) to arrest Deputy Secretary of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Prof. Salihu Shehu, over his comments on Christians.

In a statement issued after an emergency meeting of the North-East leadership of the group and signed by the national president of the Christian group, Mr. David Kadzai, the group condemned in totality a man of such status to take time to make not only inciting comments on the Christians, but to tag Christians as militia group.

“We are stating here without fear of intimidation, harassment by anybody or agency that if within seven days, security agents charged with the constitutional responsibility of maintaining law and order fails to take action on the abusive comments of Prof. Shehu on Christians in Nigeria, we will react by issuing the same comments that may not be good for the peace of this country. Nobody has the monopoly of abusing another religion without reply in more poisonous words.

“For peace and harmony of the country to continue, we urged the Director- General of DSS to take action on Prof. Shehu to avoid our reaction to his abusive comments on Christians,” the statement said.
