Cleric eyes Senator Umeh’s seat in Anambra Central

Senator Victor Umeh

A clegyman, Venerable Tochukwuu Sagacious Ikezue, has joined the  Anambra Central Senatorial District race for the forthcoming election.

Senator Victor Umeh, who currently occupies the seat after winning the election on the Labour Party (LP) platform before decamping to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is also seeking a return ticket.

Announcing his aspiration under the mantra ‘A New Dawn for Nigeria’, Ikezue described his entry into the race as a response to the growing demand for credible leadership rooted in integrity and service.

His entry into the murky waters of politics, according to political watchers, is a blend of spiritual insight with a reform-oriented agenda aimed at fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development.

A son of a veteran Anambra-born journalist, the late Chris Ikezue Agulefo, the Senatorial hopeful has promised a new era of principled, people-driven representation.

Noting that he is on a rescue mission, Ikezue revealed that his resignation from the priesthood and entry into politics has the blessing of God.

“I served as a priest in the Anglican Diocese of Gwagwalada, Abuja, and under the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, before retiring from active ministerial duties to respond to what I discern as a Divine Call to serve my people in a broader civic capacity.”
