For managing the uncertainties that trailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has commended the Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.

In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Chief Willy Ezugwu, CNPP also praised the Sen. Abdullahi Adamu-led new National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC on their emergence as the party leaders.

The CNPP urged the APC leadership to uphold internal party democracy to ensure that the best candidates emerge through the primaries ahead of the 2023 general elections.

On the experience of the new national chairman, the CNPP said: “Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu is an experienced politician, who has been an active player since the current political dispensation began in 1999.

“The CNPP believes that he understands the core values of internal democracy in a political party and we enjoin his leadership to uphold same and allow members of the party to decide who represents the APC in any election at all levels.”
ALSO, APC youths, under the umbrella of Unified Northern Nigeria Youths Forum (UNNYF), have commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention in the emergency of Adamu as the party chairman, saying it save the party from collapse.

According to the group, the emergency of Adamu, the former governor of Nasarawa State, will strengthen the APC ahead of the 2023 general election.

The Convener of UNNYF, Mohammed Danlami, stated, yesterday, that after the successful conduct of the APC national convention, the party should brace up for the presentation of a South East candidate for the presidency.

It was a show of political maturity for other chairmanship aspirants to willingly step down for Adamu to emerge, in the best interest of the party and Nigerians in general, Danlami said.

“There was no victor and no vanquished. With this new development, we are confident that APC will only wax stronger and grow deeper under the tenure of Adamu.”
