Controvert minister on harsh policies’ claim, PDP tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to comment on the claim by the Minister of Finance, Hajia Zainab Ahmed, that his administration’s policies were allegedly hurting the nation and scaring investors away.

In a statement yesterday by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP maintained that the declaration was a vindication of its long-held position.

The party said: “Though the minister particularly alluded to the administration of the colossal fines imposed on MTN Nigeria and four banks, available data showed that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has been subjecting businesses to very harsh and punitive policies, leading to the death of both domestic and foreign direct investments and its attendant economic hardship on the citizenry.”

The main opposition political party stated that it had always warned the nation of the “negative impact of the harsh economic policies, high-handedness and vindictiveness of the Buhari administration on investors.”
